The total estimated investment to open The Human Bean drive-thru ranges from $672,000 to $1,527,000, depending on factors such as site conditions, construction type, local labor costs, etc. A full breakdown of estimated startup costs is provided in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).

Franchise candidates must have a minimum net worth of $500,000, and a minimum of $250,000 liquid assets.

The Human Bean does not offer financing, but we do have relationships with several third-party financing options and a team member on staff to walk you through the process and make those introductions.  Our franchise is recognized as a Franchise Registry Verified Franchisor with FRANdata.

We do not collect a royalty fee on sales.  We earn revenues from bulk sales of coffee beans, cups, lids, and other supplies to our franchise partners. All locations contribute 1% of their gross sales revenue to a Brand Fund dedicated to promoting The Human Bean brand and supporting its drive-thrus.

Training includes:  

• Approximately 120 hours over three weeks fir two people.  
• Classroom instruction and hands-on training in live drive-thru environments.  
• Topics such as drink production, machine maintenance, inventory management, food safety, customer service, and daily operations.  
• Training takes place at our Southern Oregon training facility. Additional training may be required if performance standards are not met.

Yes. Qualified candidates may enter into an Area Development Agreement, which allows them to develop multiple locations within a defined territory over a scheduled period of time.  

Area development is ideal for experienced operators or groups seeking to scale their business with The Human Bean. 

The initial franchise agreement term is 10 years.

While timelines vary, most franchisees open their location in approximately 12 months from signing.  

Factors that affect timing include site selection, financing, and permitting and construction.  

Owner operators are welcome, but daily owner operation is not required.  

Each location must:  

• Have a trained, approved general manager  
• Remain under the owner’s direct supervision and oversight  
• Many franchisees choose to build management teams while remaining actively involved at a strategic level.
